PIGTAILS & PATCHCORDS

DESCRIPTION

PIG-TAIL is the segment of fibre optic cable with connectors in one of its endings.
PATCHCORD or JUMPER is the segment of fibre optic cable with connectors in both ends.
Both pig-tails and patchcords are sometimes called CORDS.

The cable used in the mounting of the connectors can be anyone in which the optical fibres are tight-protected. The cables are always inner ones (halogen-free, flame-retardant, low-smoke) and can be simplex, duplex, zipcord, round, break-out, and with any type of singlemode or multimode fibre. Although it is usual to work with cables of 1 or 2 fibres, we can also make multipig-tails and multi-patchcords with any number of fibres (4, 6, 8, 12, 24?). In the process of mounting, we can use any connector or a combination of them (ST, SC, SCD, FC, LC, LCD, MTRJ, SMA, ESCON) with any type of final polishment: PC, SPC OR APC.

APLICATION

Pig-tails are usually used for the terminations of the fibre optic lines. They are usually lodged in splicing boards with adapters.
Patchcords are used to link optical kits among them or with the fibre optic lines through the splicing boards and the adapters.

OPTION

We provide any combination of cables and connectors with any process of standard polishment. All connectors, either singlemode or multimode have a maximum insertion loss of 0,4 dB, with a typical average of 0.2 dB.
Our lab offers the possibility of assembling connectors on our own isolated components (transmitters, detectors, splitters?) or in those provided by the customer; and special patchcords.
